Bearing Retaining plate and jointing compound

The retaining plate you are talking about has always been a mystery to me since as stated in the post the outer race has a circlip groove for a circlip to prevent the axial movement of the bearing in...

May I suggest that you make your own hoses. Aeroquip or Goodrich manufacture a good range of end fittings and hose. It is not difficult and you can make them to fit your bike.

Thanks Twinshock, I will try that method to put them in. Removing them is another sweat. The pistons are TZ250 G, genuine Yamaha ones with no notches. I feel very tempted to mill some little notches...

Thumbs up Gudgeon Pin Circlips

Is there a nice easy way to fit the 'earless' circlips? I seem to take ages to fit them then when it comes to remove them is another sweat. There must be a trick since I can not believe they would...

Maybe a simple question:
I have started to put together the engine and am not sure which direction I should insert the oil seal on the oil pump shaft should face. I think the gator (ie spring side)...

Piston crown volume

Bit late, but I have only just seen the thread.

To calculate the crown volume use the formulae for a spherical segment, the one I use (from Machinery's Handbook) is:

Vol=pi*h*(c^2/8+h^2/6) ...

TZ250G Gudgeon Pin

Thanks for your replies. Interesting; the std 250 pin at 44.5mm long will be too short and would soon rattle the circlips to bits. The pistons I have are std Yamaha components so I assume that...

I am trying to put together a 1979/80 TZ250G and come across a problem with the gudgeon pins. I have got a pair which measure 47mm long but they are too long by about 1mm. I have made a dummy one at...

Spa Gearing

15/37 will give you about 226 km/h (140.5 ml/h) at...
