Hi folks,
just wondered if anyone can help me, i have 90 tz250 A, reverse cylinder with the following frame number - JYA 3TC W05 LA 000003 can anyone give me an indication of where its from ? i'm sure its an american designated number but i'm in the UK, i was led to believe it may have come from Ireland ? also the number seems low ie 000003 not 000103 any info appreciated. cheers Phl |

Hi Phil, that's an odd frame number. It's possible you have an aftermarket frame.
I have an "A" that has frame with a low number (possibly a semi-works racer?) and special triples, so the low number is possible. Do the numbers and headstock look like this: ![]() Lech |

Your bike came from either the USA or Canada. Starting round about then -- I think it was in 1988 -- race bikes imported into the United States had to be given a full seventeen digit VIN number. Because of this, Yamaha made this the practice for all bikes going to North America.
I had a 1991 TZ250B which came from the US and which had JYA3YLW07MA000XXX and 3YL-000XXX as the chassis and engine numbers (with three matching numbers instead of the Xs). Andrew

I know the latter is Roland Sands old bike, and the other was raced in FL in the early 90s. |

I never noticed that before. Our 90 model has the following frame number.
JYA3TC06LA000558 Our bike is an ex Peter Jackson Yamaha (Australia) Bike, can't think of the guys name who rode it. I think he wanted to be Mr Universe and became too big to race a bike. |

Hi Stu,
Was it Rene Bongers? He was on one of the PJ bikes. Lech |

No it wasn't Rene Bongers.
It was a customer bike maintained by PJ Yamaha. |
