Default Sixteen inch wheels

Hi All. Compliments for the New Year! I have a query. Has anyone tried running the 16" AM22 and AM23 tyres that Avon lists in their classic racing tyre catalogue? I used run 16" wheels in the 80's and would like to use them again. I would really appreciate any feedback ,or comments. Thanks, and have a great year!

Has nobody else even considered running 16" wheels on 81-87 model 250'S?

Ronan.

Jamie Obrien in the UK has and said really good on the front.

I think the 85-87 models had a 17 front and the 88 onwards were 17 front rear.

I note the ICGP guys are ruinning a 85-90 class this year for TZ250's and the control tyre is AM22/23's on them also.

Avon do 120 and 140 section 16's in the race compound.

Al

Thanks Al. Good to hear that. At the moment I am running 17" front and rear, fitted with Pirelli Supercorsa SC 110/70ZR17 @ front and 150/60ZR17 @ rear. Works really well, but steering not as 'quick' as 16" front. Would the AVON 16" front work with the Pirelli rear, or would it be better to go Avon front and rear? Ronan.

Bonsoir Ronan

In ICGP several riders race 250 Rotax with 120x16" AM22 and 130x18" AM23
with very good results .

A bientôt Jean-Paul

may not need to change tyre / wheel combo - may be look at geometry set up? My 350 has about 9mm added to the shock length.......18mm ride height lift at the rear and I run a lot stiffer spring than stock which stops it sagging in the rear. Front, well, It's had 2 x full work overs and the springs are much stiffer than stock
