Default Clutch thrust plate

Replacing clutch plates and seals on 1986 TZ250. After taking apart noticed the thrust plate, shaped like a top hat, is the other way round compared to official Yamaha parts manual. The clutch had the thrust plate, wide part of the top hat, up against the clutch housing with the seal then press into it, so you can see the seal. Is this correct ? Or should the narrow part of the top hat be against the clutch housing with the seal hidden behind the wide part of the top hat. Hope this makes sense but would like confirmation from your experienced folks. Cheers
