Default 18 inch wheel which tyres ?

Guys,
Have a 1986 TZ250 with front 17inch wheel and a 18inch back wheel. Having trouble souring a tyre for the 18 inch wheel. Any recommendations as to which tyres to use on these older models ? and who could supply them. Live in the UK.
Thanks

A friend here in NZ had the same issue. Avon do a 120/70/x17 AM22 and he used a 130/70 AM23. Grip was okay but killed the steering so he ditched and moved to a 110 avon , but was more road based compound.

Big issue is less the front rim as so much the rear rim which is 3.00 x 18, or more correctly what Rear tyre you can get that goes good with the front.

There are plenty of good DOT race style 110/70 x 17 fronts that will work a treat. But they are all radial. No one really does a matching 18 inch rear for a 3.00 inch rim. Especially as it is not recommended to run a radial front without a radial on the back.

There are some close options

Alpha 13 Dunlop 110/70 x 17 front and 140/60x 18 rear.
You could try something like an Alpha 13 or Pirelli Super Corsa 110/70 17 Front and a 135/70 18 AV23 Avon radial rear. This is a radial version of the AM23.

Conti do a Conti CR rear in 18 but they are 130/80 and not best suited to TZ's (tried already!).

Pirelli Super Corsa front and Avon rear is what I used at the Island Classic on my 86 TZ. I found this set up to be good.
I have tried to fit an 88 TZ rear 17in wheel in the swing arm but it won't all line up and from my investigation I have found the 87 swing arm is needed if you want to go down this road.

There are some 4 inch rear wheels about which will work perfectly with the 140 Dunlop alpha, the 110 will work real well on the front

Thanks guys.
Plenty to think about. As a matter of interest has anyone used Mitas MC50 race tyres, NHS ? Look the job and right size but can not find any reviews/comments etc.
Cheers
