Default TD3 gearbox to fit TZ cases

Hi
can any body tell me if the TZ clutch shaft will take the gears from a TD3 box. As you know the TD3 clutch shaft is too short for dry clutch. Any help most welcome

regards

Ken

The TD3 clutch shaft (for oil clutch) takes TZ gears.
But a DS7/R5/RD 250/350 shafts don't take them, as
these one also have a wet clutch.

Default TZ 350 Gearbox

Thanks, but I heard that some people could use a RD 350 Box in the TZ motor. The only difference was that the input shaft is longer for the dry clutch than it is for the wet clutch. However the gears are interchangeable accepting the ratios are longer on the RD gears. is this the case

I think there's a degree of confucrion here -the TD and TZ parts should be interchangeable, as both had dry clutches. There was, however, a wet clutch option (rare) for the TR3 and TD3. The shaft for the wet clutch will be shorter, though the TD/TR/TZ gears ahould interchange.

The RD gears and shafts are all different. I would expect a complete RD gearset and shafts to be able to go into a wet clutch TD/TD. I know that all the dry clutch parts will go into an RD case.

Someone correct me if I am mistaken, but I'm pretty sure..

Yes, the RD gears are different ratios, dogs and not undercut etc but,.. they are designed for the same shift mechanism, selectors, shaft splines and spacing. You can fit an RD gearset onto TZ250/350 shafts, and people do, to have a dry clutch on an RD. You can fit TZ250/350 gears on RD shafts but, the RD shafts have less oil cut-outs and no X-drilling so lubrication may not be as good as TZ shaft.
Cheers
